In August — September 2003, in Navoi city on initiative of Navoi regional khokimiyat and the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan was held the regular International Symposium of sculptors working in marble. The symposium was devoted to Alisher Navoi and his epoch. The sculptors from Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan became participants of the symposium.

Such actions are traditional for Uzbekistan. Symposia in Tashkent (1984), Bukhara (1990) and Navoi (2003) left a remarkable trace both in a form of fresh impressions and new experience exchange and in the works, which decorated the cities where they were held. Among the participants of this symposium there were sculptors Tulyagan Tadjikhodjaev (Uzbekistan, Tashkent), Sergey Lopukhov (Russia, Moscow), Kadirkhan Kakimov (Kazakhstan, Almaty), Tulyagan Erkulov (Uzbekistan, Samarkand), Kurban Norhurozov (Uzbekistan, Bukhara), Ulash Urakov (Uzbekistan, Bukhara), Magomet — Ali Aliev (Uzbekistan, Navoi) and Martin Antonyan (Uzbekistan, Navoi).

After the symposium, the works presented by the sculptors were installed in the park of Navoi city before the buildings of mining — metallurgical complex, regional hospital and along the Navoi street.
